Elite was born and grew up in Israel. She moved to the UK in 2002 where she now permanently lives. Elite is a female singer/ songwriter who currently produces her own material and fronts her own band. Apart from her outstanding vocal ability and production skills she is a highly competent keyboardist, pianist, and guitarist. Her backing vocals in particular are developing into something of an Elite trade mark. Elite reads and writes music, and Elite is her authentic name.
MUSICAL EDUCATION Elite's potential was first recognized by her parents after hearing her playing melodies along to pop songs from the radio on the family piano.... she was aged 4! By the time she was six Elite received her first piano lessons from her aunt, an exceptional music teacher and a constant inspiration throughout Elites musical life. The piano lessons ran for over 10yrs and Elite worked strenuously throughout developing an ear for harmony, melody and texture, traits that are written all over her songs today. She dissected classical masterpieces and pop productions in search of knowledge to create ideal compositions. Elite had her first hit at the grand age of ten, winning first place in a nationwide school competition by penning a song about the red and green men in traffic lights. The song was adopted by the authorities and used in elementary schools to teach children the safety of road crossing, she was also awarded with a medal by the police for her outstanding contribution to the community. A few years later Elites development was to take big step forward as at the age of 14 she was accepted as a student at Thalma Yellin, Israel's number one art school for dancers, musicians, actors and visual artists. It was during this period that Elite got to work alongside other talented young musicians, some who have gone on to play with the likes of Herbie Hancock and Chic Korea. Here Elite broadened her abilities by learning to play other instruments, the double bass being one. She also studied jazz and performed as front vocalist with the Big Band and many jazz ensembles, sang soprano in a choir that toured with the Philharmonic Orchestra as well as a soloist for theater production. Elite also had 10yrs dance and ballet lessons and studied creative writing. The same year that Elite was accepted into the school she won yet another song writing competition. This was judged by many of Israel's leading pop stars, and each artist had to perform their own song with a live band. Elite was the youngest student to ever claim such an honour! Towards the end of her student days Elite was awarded a scholarship to Berklee College Of Contemporary Music in Boston, USA, one of the most renowned contemporary music schools on the planet, a sure recognition of her growing talents. TO THE PRESENT DAY At 16yrs Elite formed & fronted her first rock band, gaining live and studio experience and starting to develop her stage charisma. Because of her musical leadership Elite found it difficult to settle into bands and was even fired from one for upstaging the guys!! Elite drifted in and out of several young bands before she met a compatible musician in Lenny Ben-Bassat, now a recognized Israeli producer. Elite and Lenny formed their own pop due, Vox Populi, in 2001. They recorded a self produced L.P of the same name in a studio they built inside a bomb shelter on a kibbutz! The L.P met with high acclaim but the duo parted company before it made it to the shelves. During this period Elite also worked as a session musician for various artists both in studio productions and live performances. Elites ambition and drive though finally got the better of her and the need to further her career led to a move to the UK in 2002, a move that friends had been persuading her to take for a few years prior. Here Elite put together her first British band under her own name in 2003. The band has gone through several changes throughout the last year and a half to it's current position. Elite recorded her first demo with her band in 2004. This met with instant attention and a fan base started to develop, that fan base is now of considerable size and spans all over the World. Recently Elite has struck a friendship with Aubrey Nunn, a member of the internationally acclaimed band âoFaithlessâ, and also a co-writer to Dido. Aubrey first heard Elite via mp3s on her website and invited her up to his London studio. The two have since co-written on several occasions. Elite has built up her own studio of which most of her spare time is devoted to. She is constant in her repertoire of new material and an eagerness to learn new production techniques. It is here that Elite has just completed her 2nd demo. Elite is open minded in working relationships and dedicated to achieving success. |
